5 tips to rejuvenate after the holidays
Every year I spend the Holidays with my face full of Deviled Eggs, Stuffing, and Turkey with a side of White Chocolate Cheesecake drizzled in Strawberries (<–Great Recipe). YUM. It’s the best time of the year, when I can put all those weight loss goals aside and really indulge, because I know that in a couple weeks I will be back in the gym, working those hard earned pounds off.
YEAH RIGHT! News flash, that never happens.
We all know the routine; stuff ourselves silly during the holidays and then swear up and down that this time we will stick to our New Year resolution of finally shedding those extra five pounds. Yet, every year the Holidays leave me bloated, stressed, and simply rundown wishing that I would have put the cheesecake down, but alas, it’s just too good.
I’m sure a lot of people can relate to this little dilemma, at least I hope I’m not the only one who loves to overindulge in dessert and other “amazingness” during this joyful time of year. But getting back to normal and taking time to rejuvenate doesn’t have to mean joining an expensive gym or crash dieting, it just takes a little time and a little love. Here are 5 tips to help you rejuvenate after the holidays:
Exfoliate and Hydrate. All the salty foods we eat can leave are skin looking dull and puffy. To get back your glow reach for a glycolic peel like VIVITÉ® Glycolic Chemical Facial Peel, that can help improve overall skin clarity and reduces fine lines and wrinkles. Also, don’t forget to hydrate your body by drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day to flush those holiday toxins away.
Rock Out. Need a stress buster? Rock out to some of your favorite music while taking a shower or on your way home from work. Taking the time to immerge yourself into your favorite track will help your brain relax and take its own much needed time out.
Work It Out. No one ever said that the only good workouts are at the gym. If you’re low on cash and time, checkout some of the free workouts you can catch will surfing your TV stations. Both PBS and Fit TV run free workout broadcasts everydays that are easy to do at home.
Laugh. Laughter is the best medicine. Who knew that old saying actually stands true? From a small giggle to a giant belly laugh, either way you’re releasing “feel good” chemicals in your brain that can actually make you healthier and calmer. So take a second to catch an amusing flick with your friend or read the funnies in your local newspaper, but don’t forget to put a little humor in your life every day.
Love Yourself. This doesn’t require much explanation, but I think many of us forget sometimes. Make sure to take a second out of everyday to remind yourself that no matter what you do or how you look, you are great.
“Love yourself first and everything else falls into line.
You really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world.”
