Prepare Your Skin for Laser Hair Removal

Posted: May 17, 2013

Love your sleeker, hair-free look!

Sleeveless tops. Shorter shorts. Barer bathing suits. You’ve got it covered—but first you have to take off unwanted hair and a great option is laser hair removal. Our new equipment provides great results on all skin types, with fewer treatments than previous technologies.  It’s exciting but you can take a few small steps to make sure you get the best possible results.

Once you’ve set a date for your first treatment, put a hold on your usual hair removal routine. No plucking, or waxing—drop the tools!  We’re serious! This is a precaution to ensure that your hair follicles are in the proper growth stage prior to the hair removal process. Also, it is critical to stop sun exposure and the use of self-tanning lotions at least three weeks prior to your treatment.

On the day of your treatment, you should shave the areas that will be treated to ensure the best results. That enables the laser to focus more precisely on the hair follicles. And remember; don’t apply any creams, lotions or deodorant the day of your procedure!

Pamper your post-service skin. If you notice that your skin is slightly red or irritated after the procedure, don’t worry. This is completely normal. A cool compress or ice pack may be applied. Also remember to stay hydrated and keep out of the sun, and the irritation should dissipate. You’ll be able to jump right back into your normal day-to-day routine.
